Welcome back to another blog of filiz flavour. 

Today we are going to make Jeera Rice Dal Tadka.

We are here with delicious recipe of everyone's favourite Jeera Rice and Dal Tadka.

So let's move on to make this amazing dish.


1. This Jeera rice and Dal Tadka is a simple one pot meal recipe. It is a delicious gravy dish that serves as a good option for healthy lunch or dinner.

INGREDIENTS

Bay leaf — 1-2
Black cardamon — 1-2
Cloves —  6-7
Cumin seeds — 1 to 2 teaspoons
Curry leaves —  8-9
star anise — 1-2 
Soaked toor dal — 1 cup
Chana dal — 1/4 cup
Moong dal  — 1/4 cup 
Ginger garlic paste 
Green chilli — 2-3
Hing as per taste
Salt as per taste 
Turmeric — 2-3 teaspoons
Cooking oil
Medium sized chopped onion — 1
Medium sized chopped tomato — 1
Dhaniya and jeera powder
Corainder leaves 
Rice — 1 cup


RECIPE

Soak all the three dal for 1 hour before starting to cook.

1. In a cooker 1 and half cup of water. Add soaked  dal to it and add 1-2 no.s of all the spices (khade masale) to it. Salt per taste and half to 1 teaspoon of turmeric. Also don't forget to add a pinch of hing to it.

TIP: Hing is a well known spice which improves and helps faciliate proper digestion.

2. Add spoonfull of oil. Boil the daal till cooker whistle 2-3 times. 

3. For dal add ons, take a saucepan and add 2 spoons of oil to it. Once it is hot add onions to it and saute it for a while. 

4. Now add tomatoes and let it cook till they are mashy. (You don't have to mash them completely, but just the consistency should be mashy)

5. Now add some salt as per taste, 2 teaspoons of ginger garlic paste, 2 teaspoons of paprika or red chilli powder, and 1 teaspoon of turmeric, ginger dhaniya powder and garam masala each.

6. Add some water. Mix it well and cook it.

7. Now add the prepared gravy in the dal mix everything well and keep it aside. Adding some coriander leaves would be great as it enhances the taste to a next level.

8 To prepare tadka take a pan and add 2 spoons of oil to it. Add 3-4 no.s of cloves and cumin seeds to it. 

9. Add one teaspoon of ginger garlic paste, 6-7 curry leaves and red chilli powder to it.

10. Pour the hot tadka on dal and mix it well.

11. For rice take a vessel and add 3 cups of water in it. Now add 1-2 cloves, 2-3 cardamon and 1 bay leaf.  Add some salt.

12. Take one cup of basmati rice and wash it well. Drain the water and put the rice in the vessel.

13 Let it cook and check if it's cooked completely from time to time.

14 Giving tadka to rice is our last and final step. In a saucepan add a spoonful of oil 1-2 cloves, curry leaves and cumin seeds. Once the tadka is ready add the steamed rice to it.

Don't forget to put some fresh coriander leaves. Mix everything and our delicious dish is ready.

All we have to do now is assemble everything!

In a plate, take jeera rice and pour hot and spicy dal over it and enjoy.
